You could try Pergo (laminate) floor. I replaced the carpet with him a while back. It looks very nice, and easy to maintain.

It's not as expensive as you may think or have been led to believe. It is also quite easy to do-it-yourself project that has been fantastic. You need to do your homework and search online for a good price on the actual land. Focus on preparation work for the floor – both from HGTV. com and DIYNET. com can walk you through it. You may also check out Home Depot and a product of Dupont (http://www2. DuPont. Com / Laminate_Flooring … I actually installed this product on a weekend in my room and the family – WOW – what is a transformation. Very easy to install, and limited court looks fantastic.
There are plenty of books and videos, both at The Home Depot and Lowes on how to install hardwood floors – you really can not go wrong – and people on this site will help you when you encounter a technical problem. I've included a quality website and wooden floors, low cost, as well as video of a 'youtube' on how to install.
