We have installed Ikea in our house. We installed Pergo (top) in my mother's house. Mom was triple the price, but it looks tons better and was the easiest to install. The only Ikea for the price and the fact that in a bedroom is a large hump in the foundation and because the Ikea is so thin, flexible and board, as we have to bend over the hump and finish of the room. Never could have done with thicker, more pleasant things. So consider when deciding foundation. We had no idea of the hump was there until we started laying it. It is a project of easy weekend for a man / woman on the team. The hardest part is to cut the door jambs, but you get used to it very quickly as well.

I installed a floating floor in a recent Bruce lobby. The boards lock together so no glue, nailing or stapling. I found the steep learning curve, and it was slow going for the width of first 3 to 4 on board. Finally finished the job, but I will not do it again. My stepson installed a laminate floor and told me it was very easy to install. I guess I would advise you start with a small job first.
